Wendy’s is at it again, folks. After enhancing the Frosty with Oreos and Pop-Tarts, the fast food chain has just taken two more all-time favorites and combined them together to create a sandwich that may have folks lining up to snag one at the drive-through window.
That sandwich? A Grilled Cheese Cheeseburger. If you haven’t heard of that before, it’s because the company just unleashed it on the world. It basically serves up a cheeseburger between two grilled cheese sandwiches.
Specifically, it’s a quarter pound of ground beef topped with caramelized onions, creamy mayo, topped, of course, with melted cheese all served between two grilled cheese sandwiches doing double duty as buns.
There’s just one problem with this tasty treat: It’s currently only available in Canada, where Wendy’s is marking 50 years of business. That’s right, it’s not available anywhere near the South—yet. In the press release marking the Grilled Cheese Cheeseburger, Wendy’s Innovation Manager hinted that the sandwich might head south of the border.
“At Wendy’s, we’re passionate about bringing bold flavours and memorable experiences to our fans and introducing new customers to our fresh, famous food,” Hayley Kianoff, Manager, International Culinary Innovation at The Wendy’s Company, said in a press release.
“This year marks 50 years of Wendy’s in Canada, and to celebrate we’re giving Canadians the first taste of our new Grilled Cheese Cheeseburger, which is crafted with cheesy, juicy quality in every single bite.” Did you catch the hint? First taste. We are taking that as a promise that this sandwich within a sandwich is headed our way soon.
