If McDonald’s is famous for one thing its the humble cheeseburger, which they perfected back in the 1940s, according to fans of the fast food chain.

The question has always remained – what does the chain do to make their burgers taste the way they do? In response to this very question, a former corporate chef at McDonald’s dished on the top secret ingredients.

“I am gonna divulge some information for you right now,” Mike Haracz, who worked at the Golden Arches until 2019, said in a TikTok video.

“It is magic, nobody believes me when I tell them about this magic of what goes on the McDonald’s burgers.”

Excited fans who watched the video to finally discover McDonald’s secret, were stunned when Haracz revealed the two ingredients: salt and pepper.

“There’s literally no other things in it,” Haracz said, adding that it’s 86% salt and 14% pepper.

The chef explained that this is what’s used on the “tender” burgers, including the cheeseburger, the McDouble, the double cheeseburger, the Big Mac and Quarter Pounders.

“Go sue them, go test them…if you’re so smart and don’t believe me, somebody who is in fact a former McDonald’s employee,” Haracz replied to the naysayers.

He added that someone could bring the burger into a lab and it would prove that the seasoning was as simple as he says.

Some customers, still doubtful, took to McDonald’s website to read the ingredient list, and sure enough, it states under the burger ingredients, “Grill Seasoning (salt, Black Pepper).”

Over the years, McDonald’s fans have also wondered how they make other menu items taste so delicious. According to many Reddit users, McDonald’s actually uses beef flavoring in their fryer oil, making their french fries extra flavorful.

On Reddit, Ambivalentwaffle wrote: “Former employee here. I found out that, when making 5 gallons of sweet tea, an entire 4-pound bag of sugar goes in.”

Another user added: “Dehydrated onions, you put them in a metal thing and just add water. The thing is they still taste great! But I was shocked and happy that I didn’t have to go cut onions.”

Another former employee shared a useful tip he picked up to ensure you get fresh food every time, writing: “A couple of Mormon missionary guys came in one time and ordered their food, and also ordered French fries with NO SALT.”

“So the fries had to be fried specially, with no salt. They told me it was their tactic to get HOT FRIES.”
