This summer’s heat is no match for Trader Joe’s selection of frozen desserts. In April, the neighborhood grocer launched macaron ice cream sandwiches and brought back its beloved Banana Pudding Flavored Ice Cream, giving us plenty of time to stock up for the warm months ahead. Now that the dog days are officially here, there are even more refreshing options including Passion Fruit Sorbet, a product so popular, we just had to include it in our monthly roundup of the best new finds at Trader Joe’s.
Recently, Trader Joe’s shoppers spotted another new frozen treat on shelves, and they’re already making plans to stock up.
Trader Joe’s Introduces New Italian Pistachio & Fior Di Latte Gelato Style Frozen Dessert
Trader Joe’s Italian Pistachio and Fior di Latte Gelato Style Frozen Dessert just landed on shelves giving fans the two-toned dessert they didn’t know they needed. The tub is divided into four distinct sections: two containing pistachio gelato-style frozen dessert, and two filled with fior di latte gelato-style frozen dessert.
For those unfamiliar, fior di latte, which literally translates to “flower of milk,” is a common flavor of Italian gelato that has no mix-ins or flavorings so as to highlight the taste of high-quality cow’s milk. According to the Trader Joe’s website, it’s “a staple of Italian gelaterias,” and “a phenomenal foil to the bolder, toasty, semi-savory notes of pistachio.” One Instagrammer praised the find writing that it’s “arguably the best dessert I’ve ever had from Trader Joe’s.”
Each 28-ounce tub costs less than $5 and contains five servings. You can keep it simple and serve it in a bowl topped with homemade chocolate hard shell, but pistachio lovers might prefer it sandwiched between two white chocolate chip-pistachio cookies. To stretch the servings even further, scoop it into a cup and top with espresso for an affogato your guests will never stop talking about.
Trader Joe’s shoppers, including Allrecipes’ own Associate Editorial Director, Cally Rhine, are thrilled with the creamy frozen treat. “It’s delicious, one of the best things ever,” Rhine gushed.
In a recent Reddit thread, users discussed the find and how hard it is to put down. “I picked this up today. Had a couple of bites and it took everything not to sit on the sofa with the container and a spoon,” one person wrote.
Trader Joe’s new gelato-style frozen dessert will be available until August, or while supplies last, so be sure to scoop up a tub (or two) on your next grocery run. While you’re there, don’t forget to pick up the ingredients for the viral 5-ingredient lobster pasta—it takes just 20 minutes and is made entirely on the stovetop. Paired with the Italian Pistachio and Fior di Latte Gelato Style Frozen Dessert, we couldn’t ask for a more perfect summer meal.
