Dewey’s Pizza has introduced a Nashville Hot Chicken & Waffle pizza available through Aug. 4. The Nashville Hot Chicken & Waffle pizza is the latest pizza creation from a dedicated team member at Dewey’s Lakewood, Ohio location, according to a press release.
Dewey’s employees are encouraged to share their culinary creativity through recipe battles — contests that invite team members to dream up unique pizza creations that bring fresh, unexpected flavors to the menu for guests to enjoy.
The Nashville Hot Chicken & Waffle pizza is the third of four winning recipes selected from the 2024 Recipe Battle contest. Other notable releases from the contest include the Peach Street and Uptown Reuben pizzas. The fourth and final Recipe Battle pizza will debut in late 2025 or early 2026. Recipe Battle winners will not only see their pizzas brought to life in Dewey’s restaurants, but they will also win prizes like custom chef knives or home pizza ovens.
“Our team members are at the heart of Dewey’s and our Recipe Battles, which lets their creativity shine,” Stephanie McCall, marketing director of Dewey’s Pizza, said in the release. “It’s what keeps our menu exciting and keeps our guests coming back for something new.”
Crafted by Ryan Bader from Dewey’s Lakewood, Ohio location, the Nashville Hot Chicken & Waffle pizza combines pepper jack cheese, Nashville hot chicken, and house-pickled jalapeños. It also features olive oil, mozzarella and waffle pieces, all finished after the bake with a healthy drizzle of Dewey’s housemade Nashville hot sauce and 100% pure maple syrup for the perfect sweet-heat balance. This pizza is a unique twist on the popular Chicken & Waffle breakfast dish.
Bader said the inspiration for the pizza was simple.
“The story behind the pizza is that I just love chicken and waffles — and Nashville hot chicken, too,” Bader said in the release. “Combining them into a pizza felt like the perfect fit.”
Dewey’s Pizza has 27 locations across the Midwest.
