DiGiorno Just Solved the Biggest Problem With Frozen Pizza

Written by

Every Friday in my house is pizza night. It’s a tradition that goes back to college when my dorm’s dining hall would close up shop and offer express pizza instead of its regular fare. Post college, I’ve continued to appreciate it, taking it as an opportunity to try new pizza places, perfect my own crust recipe, and get creative with pizza-adjacent recipes like stromboli and pizza roll-ups

But after a long week, sometimes a frozen pizza is just what you need. It’s fast, budget-friendly, and can easily cater to different food preferences. The only problem with frozen pizza is that when you’re feeding more than a couple hungry people, one just isn’t enough.

Fortunately, one of the industry’s biggest names is tackling this problem head-on with its newest release.

DiGiorno’s Extra Large Frozen Pizza

The next time you hit the frozen pizza aisle, there could be a new crowd-pleasing option on shelves. DiGiorno just launched Extra Large frozen pizzas, which are 65 percent larger than the hand-tossed-style crust offering. The larger-than-average pizzas will be available in two fan-favorite flavors: Four Cheese and Pepperoni.

Each 14-inch pie is made with 100 percent real cheese, and can be sliced into six servings. The duo is perfect for the hungriest fans and can reduce waste for those who need more than one pizza but don’t quite need two.

On Walmart’s website, the new XL offering retails for just under $10. While that might seem steep for a frozen meal, consider this: It’s less than $2 per serving. And even though restaurants such as Domino’s have deals that might work out cheaper per pizza, once you add a tip and fees, it’s possible your final bill will end up being higher. Plus, all else aside, you just can’t beat the convenience of frozen pizza.

So far, we’ve spotted DiGiorno’s new Extra Large pizzas at Walmart. The pair could be rolling out to additional retailers in the future, though, so be sure to check the pizza aisle on your next grocery run.
