A Louisville go-to for fried chicken is shaking things up.

Louie’s Hot Chicken and Barbecue, 4222 Poplar Level Road, announced via a social media post on Friday that it’s saying goodbye to one of its namesake food items. The restaurant will soon close its doors to remodel and rework the menu “into something different, but still delicious,” the Facebook post stated.

“It is with bittersweet and sticky BBQ memories that Louie’s must announce we will be bidding adieu to our hot chicken legacy this weekend,” the post continued.

Louie’s will offer menu favorites “one last time” on Friday, Aug. 1, and Saturday, Aug. 2.

“Thanks so much to everyone who has supported us over the years through the good and the bad,” the post concluded. “Stay tuned for all the big details to come!”

Started by three friends who spent years perfecting their Nashville hot chicken recipe, Louie’s has traditionally served chicken with heat levels including medium, hot, extra hot and extra extra hot “if you dare,” according to the restaurant’s website. Louie’s also offers barbecue, including smoked brisket, pork and wings, daily.
