I love making salads from scratch, but sometimes I don’t have the time to chop up three or four different vegetables and prepare a salad dressing. I often opt for bagged salads, especially on weekday nights when I’m working on a big deadline and we’re coming and going due to my son’s sports practices and meets.
I’ve tried many brands and varieties, and I recently discovered my new favorite salad at Walmart: Marketside Gorgonzola Cherry Almond Chopped Salad Kit.
This beautiful bagged salad is reminiscent of something you’d find at a restaurant. Made from a base that contains green leaf, kale, two different cabbages, carrots, and green onions, it’s dressed with a creamy gorgonzola dressing and comes with toasted almonds, dried cherries, and garlic croutons.

Why I Love Walmart’s Marketside Gorgonzola Cherry Almond Chopped Salad Kit
The first night I tried this salad, I added chopped cucumbers that I had in the fridge, and ate it with grilled steak. It was the perfect meal. It was crisp and creamy, yet crunchy from the almonds and croutons, and the cherries added a bright, tart sweetness to balance everything out. It didn’t need the cucumbers, but since we love salads in our house, it helped stretch the salad into four satisfying portions.
The bag claims it contains four portions, but it contains closer to three. However, for only $3.48 a bag, you can easily buy two or, as I did, bulk it up with extra vegetables or grains. The portion of dressing is quite generous.
What I loved most about this bagged salad is how well it holds up and tastes the next day. That’s because it’s mostly cruciferous veggies, like kale and cabbage, and doesn’t wilt like a Caesar salad or other lettuce-heavy salad.
This salad could make a meal if you add protein to it. The creamy gorgonzola tastes exceptionally delicious with steak. However, it would also pair nicely with grilled chicken or pan-seared salmon. You could toss some pasta in it to turn it into a delicious pasta salad, the kind you’d bring to a potluck.
The Marketside Gorgonzola Cherry Almond Chopped Salad Kit is my current favorite bagged salad, and I plan to enjoy it for the rest of the season. It’s affordable, flavorful, and easy to dress up with whatever’s in the fridge, gwhich makes it a dependable option when time is tight but you still need to get dinner on the table.
