This recipe for success is building community one slice at a time

Mix in great pizza, fantastic fundraising and great deals and you’ve got a Papa Johns Langley event that can’t be missed

For Bhavikkumar and Shilva Patel, owning Papa Johns Langley is about much more than serving pizza. It’s about raising their son in a beautiful community, building lasting connections, and giving back to the place they happily call home.

The fact that they can do this while serving top-quality food makes it even more rewarding. Whether it’s a birthday party, a family celebration, a corporate event, or simply a busy weeknight when people are craving pizza, the Patels are proud to be part of the special moments that bring Langley residents together.

“We’re here to make a positive difference by showing up, supporting local programs, and spreading joy wherever we can – and of course, sharing some great pizza along the way,” they say.

Shilva was first inspired to pursue Papa Johns ownership after visiting her brother’s franchise in Maple Ridge. “When we tried the pizza there, we loved it immediately – the fresh ingredients, the taste, the quality,” she recalls. “It made me realize that food can be more than a meal – it can be a way to bring people together and create memories.”

That belief motivated her and Bhavikkumar to take over the Langley location earlier this year, seeing Papa Johns as not just a business, but a way to support their family and their community.

That philosophy shines through in their upcoming Community Appreciation Event, happening Saturday, Sept. 6 from noon to 4:30 p.m. at Papa Johns Langley (20811 Fraser Hwy.). Guests can enjoy pizza by the slice by donation – with proceeds going to the Be a Giant Foundation – along with giveaways, prize draws, and 50 per cent off large pizzas. From Sept. 1 to 11, they’ll also run a Community Appreciation Promotion offering 50 per cent off all large pizzas as a thank-you to residents.

Their son, Jenish Patel – a Grade 11 student at R.E. Mountain Secondary School and a member of the Lusa Langley soccer team – is also active in the business, helping out at all of the community events.

For the Patels, the Be a Giant Foundation’s focus on youth, schools, families, and wellness mirrors their own priorities. “Giving back isn’t something extra; it’s something we feel privileged to do,” they explain.

Already active supporters of Langley Baseball, the Langley Rodeo, Movie Night in the Park, Earth Day and pickleball tournaments, the Patels view community involvement as a cornerstone of their store. They actively seek out ways to support first responders, local sports and grassroots programs, always looking for opportunities to help.
