NFL Player Jalen Hurts Eats This 4-Ingredient Meal Every Day

Football is finally back, baby! The 32 NFL teams and their players have been training hard in the offseason as they compete for their chance to go to the Super Bowl and hoist the coveted Vince Lombardi Trophy.

The start of a new season may mean a fresh slate for each team, but the defending Super Bowl champs, the Philadelphia Eagles, are itching for the chance to, as Travis Kelce tends to put it, get back to the “top of the mountain.” Super Bowl MVP and Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts isn’t just hungry for another win, however.

The QB was featured in an “Eat Like” video with Men’s Health, where he broke down what he eats to fuel his body and keep him in Super Bowl-winning shape. And while the usual things, like protein, came up, there were a few surprises. 

Namely, Hurts says he keeps his lunch pretty light, so he “consistently” eats the same thing every day.

Jalen Hurts’ Favorite Lunch Salads

After a simple breakfast of eggs, turkey bacon, and a carb, like potatoes or toast, Hurts keeps his lunch just as straightforward with a salad. Before you roll your eyes, just remember that Jennifer Garner and Jennifer Aniston say they eat a salad every day for lunch, too, and those salads are delicious. 

Unlike the Jens, though, Hurts calls on one of the easiest (yet maybe most beloved) salads in existence: a Caesar salad. The four-ingredient salad is typically made with a bed of romaine lettuce, Parmesan cheese, croutons, and a creamy Caesar dressing.

While Hurts doesn’t mention if he makes any adjustments or additions to the salad, seeing that he’s big on protein—especially fish, chicken, and steak, he says—we wouldn’t be surprised if he makes his lunch a chicken Caesar salad, steak Caesar salad, or even salmon Caesar salad. 

Hurts also shared that he often enjoys a Cobb-style salad. While there do tend to be more ingredients on a Cobb salad than on a Caesar, it’s a great source of protein. 

Traditionally, a Cobb salad is made with iceberg lettuce topped with bacon (Hurts likely opts for turkey bacon.), tomatoes, hard-boiled eggs, avocado, blue cheese, and a dressing. Again, Hurts might add chicken or turkey to the salad—and the dressing is unclear. Cobb salads can really have any dressing, from ranch to the Brown Derby French or vinaigrette

Hurts says he doesn’t like to “walk around feeling too heavy,” which is why he keeps his diet light, but he does indulge. He shared that the Eagles’ Defensive Ends and Outside Linebackers coach Jeremiah Washburn’s wife makes the D-line cookies after every win. 

“Somehow I found myself getting a bag of cookies, as well,” he said. “We kept winning and they kept coming.”

Also, his sweet treat “reward” is Blue Bell’s Butter Pecan ice cream—you can take the guy out of Texas, but he still can’t resist the Texas staple

Only time will tell if Hurts’ training and diet pay off with another Super Bowl ring, but from now on, any time we order a Caesar or Cobb salad, we’ll be thinking of the Philly quarterback.
