Social media sensation Sivan Kobi, known to her more than one million social media followers as ‘Sivan’s Kitchen,’ invites California Live’s Jessica Vilchis into her home kitchen to share festive recipes for Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. From a seasonal holiday salad to her one-bowl honey cake, Sivan combines tradition and modern twists to create dishes that are as beautiful as they are delicious.
Rosh Hashanah Viral Green Salad
Serves 6–8
INGREDIENTS:
Salad
• ½ green cabbage, finely chopped
• ½ bunch parsley, finely chopped
• ½ bunch cilantro, finely chopped
• 5 celery ribs, finely chopped
• 3 green onions, sliced
• 1 fennel bulb, finely chopped
• 1 green apple, diced
Dressing
• ¼ cup olive oil
• ¼ cup honey (or maple syrup for vegan)
• ½ cup water
• ¼ cup tahini
• ⅓ cup fresh lemon juice
• ¼ cup pomegranate molasses
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon black pepper
• ⅛ cup dried mint
• 4–5 garlic cloves
HOW TO MAKE:
- Chop all vegetables and the apple into small, even pieces. Place in a large mixing bowl.
- In a blender or food processor, combine olive oil, honey, water, tahini, lemon juice, pomegranate molasses, salt, pepper, dried mint, and garlic. Blend until smooth and creamy.
- Pour the dressing over the chopped salad. Toss until everything is well coated.
- Serve immediately as a fresh side dish, or pair with tortilla chips or pita chips and scoop it up like a dip.
