California Pizza Kitchen captured the hearts of fans 40 years ago and never let go. The West Coast-founded chain, sometimes referred to as CPK, got its start in Beverly Hills selling BBQ Chicken Thin Crust Pizza. Over the years, the company quickly grew and currently operates more than 200 locations worldwide.
This month, the pizza chain is expanding its reach once again by partnering with Farmer’s Fridge to bring one of its most popular menu items to more than 1,800 refrigerated vending machines across the U.S.
Farmer’s Fridge Now Stocks California Pizza Kitchen’s BBQ Chicken Salad
Farmer’s Fridge
California Pizza Kitchen’s iconic Original BBQ Chicken Chopped Salad is now available in Farmer’s Fridge locations nationwide. The salad has been a fixture at CPK for 40 years and all it takes is one glance at its ingredients list to see why. The robust entrée includes BBQ chicken breast, black beans, sweet corn, jicama, fresh cilantro, basil, crispy corn tortilla strips, Monterey Jack cheese, tomatoes, scallions, and the chain’s signature herb ranch.
And if you haven’t tried Farmer’s Fridge yet, allow us to introduce you. In 2013, the company set out on a mission to make fresh, high-quality food more accessible while on the go. It has smart fridges, which are refrigerated vending machines, all over the U.S., including airports, stadiums, hospitals, and office buildings. According to its online menu, you can not only snag salads but a variety of sandwiches, wraps, and breakfast options, too.
I tried the new jarred Original BBQ Chicken Chopped Salad, and here’s my honest review.
My Honest Review of the Farmer’s Fridge California Pizza Kitchen Salad
I’ll start by saying that I’ve never tried California Pizza Kitchen nor Farmer’s Fridge, so I was thrilled to get an early taste of this new collab. Immediately, I was impressed at how fresh the jar looked. Lettuce can brown quickly, but honestly, this looked better than the bagged salad options at my grocery store.
At first smell, it was good. And at first bite, even better. I tried the ranch on its own before mixing it into the salad, and I was surprised that it tasted just like what you’d find at a restaurant. The barbecue sauce had a great flavor and didn’t overwhelm the fresh ingredients. The jar tasted less like a prepared deli salad and more like one that you order fresh for pickup at your favorite restaurant. Overall, this is a meal I’d be happy to eat again and again.
Plus, every time you purchase a CPK salad from Farmer’s Fridge, you’ll get a coupon for a free pizza at CPK. You can cash in at any California Pizza Kitchen location. Be sure to check out the Farmer’s Fridge website to find a fridge near you.
