Uncrustables Is Releasing a New Sandwich—and Fans Say Their Lunch ‘Just Got Upgraded’

Written by

It was only 25 years ago that Uncrustables hit the market. Since then, the popular frozen and crustless peanut butter and jam sandwiches have transformed our breakfasts, snacks, and pre-workout meals, while also helping busy parents feed their hungry kids day in and day out.

From peanut butter and honey to peanut butter and chocolate-hazelnut spread and more classic varieties like peanut butter and berry jam, the brand certainly knows how to whip together a delicious, crave-worthy PB sandwich.

And now, Uncrustables is releasing a new kind of sandwich that fans have been waiting for.

Uncrustables Introduces New Higher Protein Sandwich

Step aside, protein bars, because Uncrustables is joining the protein trend. Its latest release is a new sandwich portfolio called Higher Protein. It includes an all-new Up & Apple Peanut Butter and Apple Cinnamon Jelly Sandwich, as well as a new Bright-Eyed Berry Sandwich. Both are formulated with 12 grams of protein, making them a fantastic option for consumers looking to incorporate a little more protein into their day, as each sandwich contains approximately twice the protein of regular Uncrustables.

While fans are excited about the new line, it’s evident that one flavor is stealing the spotlight. Yes, we’re talking about the new Up & Apple Peanut Butter, which features creamy peanut butter and a cinnamon-spiked apple jelly nestled inside two slices of the brand’s “unbelievably soft bread.”

To say fans are excited is an understatement. “The apple one sounds unique and yum,” shared one Instagram user.

“That’s gonna be a yes from me,” added someone else, while another fan simply commented that the apple one is “a good upgrade.”

“We’re redefining what it means to be a morning person by helping consumers start their days in a more delicious and convenient way,” said Chris Achenbach, marketing director at The J.M. Smucker Co., in a press release. “As traditional breakfasts give way to whatever you can grab, sip, or snack on first, Uncrustables is ready for them.”

The sandwiches are now rolling out to Kroger, Walmart, and Target locations nationwide, where they’re sold in packs of eight for $10.46 (prices may vary by location). Like every Uncrustable, the Up & Apple Sandwiches are individually packaged and intended to be thawed for enjoyment (not microwaved, which can cause the sugars to heat up quickly and burn).

It’s unclear whether these will be joining the brand’s offerings as permanent items, but you bet we’ll be adding one or two boxes to the shopping cart the next time we’re in stores.
