Daybreak Kitchen: Apple Crisp

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – For this week’s Daybreak Kitchen recipe, Chef Jared Lee joined us to show Henry an easy dessert.

The recipe for Apple Crisp can be found below.

Ingredients

  • Filling
    • 4 apples, chopped and peeled
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 1 cup apple cider
    • 1/2 cup orange juice
    • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
    • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
    • 1/2 cup cornstarch
    • 1/2 cup water
  • Dutch topping
    • 2 cups flour
    • 1 cup butter, melted but not hot
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 1 cup rolled oats
    • 1 tablespoon cinnamon

Instructions

  • Combine chopped and peeled apples, apple cider, and sugar in a pan on medium high heat
  • Add orange juice, vanilla extract, and cinnamon
  • Let combine and cook down
  • Combine flour, sugar, rolled outs, and cinnamon in a sperate bowl
  • Add butter and mix till combined in pea-sized clumps
  • Let apples boil for 5-7 minutes until fork tender
  • Add cornstarch slurry, one to one cornstarch to water ration to apple mixture
  • Put apple filling into serving dish, top with Dutch toping, place in oven at 350 degrees for around 10 minutes
  • Top with ice cream and serve
