Hoosier chefs score two category wins at World Food Championships

Written by

In a sweet moment of victory, a pair of Indiana chefs brought home the bacon with two first-place finishes at the 13th annual World Food Championships.

Circle City Sweets owner Cindy Hawkins and Ivy Tech Culinary Arts and Hospitality instructor Daniel McDonald were the dessert and bacon champs, respectively, in what’s known as the ultimate Food Sport smackdown. The four-day competition wrapped up its second year at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Oct. 19 with 10 chefs — the two Hoosier victors included — collecting $10,000 checks and punching their tickets to the Final Table contest in Bentonville, Arkansas, next spring.
