The Jersey Mike’s Sub That Sold Out Across the Country Is Finally Back

Much like any fast food restaurant, every Jersey Mike’s fan has their go-to sub that they order practically every time they’re at the sandwich chain. However, thanks to social media, we’ve seen many customers switching it up to try out viral hacks or even new subs entirely. 

From the “Vinny’s Way” tuna fish sandwich to the #7 sub that introduced many people (myself included) to Jersey Mike’s Rosemary Parmesan Bread and Hot Chopped Pepper Relish, the chain has seen multiple viral moments. But none have taken over the internet quite like its Chicken Salad Sub.

In April, Jersey Mike’s released a Chicken Salad Sub for a limited time. However, that “limited time” was shorter than everyone expected due to the sub’s instant success. The Chicken Salad Sub, simply made with roasted chicken, mayo, celery, and black pepper and prepared Mike’s Way—or however you like it—quickly sold out at restaurants across the country.

Due to customers’ overwhelmingly positive reception, Jersey Mike’s assured Allrecipes in May that it was exploring options to bring its chicken salad back sometime this summer. And, as of July 1, we’re happy to announce that the Chicken Salad Sub is officially back on menus.

Jersey Mike’s Brings Back Popular Chicken Salad Sub

After selling out everywhere, the Chicken Salad Sub is back for what appears to be another limited run. At this time, Jersey Mike’s Chicken Salad Sub is listed on the menu without a number, which is what denotes a permanent menu slot. But the chain doesn’t just add numbers to sandwiches willy-nilly—the last sub to join the permanent lineup was added in 2022, and before that in 2015. 

However, self-proclaimed employees on Reddit seem to be hopeful that the Chicken Salad Sub will earn a permanent placement. 

“Chicken salad will be back for a long LTO run starting July 1. It’s going to go to the fall and corporate is hoping it becomes a full-time menu item,” wrote one Reddit user.

During its initial run, customers raved about the sandwich. I tried it and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed such a simple chicken salad. Originally, the sub used Jersey Mike’s slow-roasted chicken breast, which was added to menus for its Roasted Chicken Breast Sub back in January.

However, because that chicken breast sub is no longer on the menu—and due to a demand that the original supplier couldn’t keep up with, according to Reddit—Jersey Mike’s made a slight change to its chicken salad. Now, the sub will be made with pre-diced chicken, according to a Jersey Mike’s prep sheet posted on Reddit.

The change likely won’t impact the taste—but it will save Jersey Mike’s employees time. Now, instead of dicing up the sliced chicken breast, the chicken is pre-cut and ready to combine with mayo, celery, and black pepper.

Hopefully, the new chicken means Jersey Mike’s will be able to keep up with customers’ love for the sub and it will stick around longer than its initial run. But, just to be safe, I know what I’m ordering for lunch today.
