The recipe must be:
- Original: Cannot be a published recipe from a website, cookbook, or other publication
- Family-friendly: Feeds a family of 4 or more, including kids of all ages
- Weeknight-friendly: Takes 1 hour or less to make, including prep time and cook time
- Budget-friendly: Calls for no more than 8 ingredients that can be found at any local big box grocery store (salt, black pepper, oil, and water do not count towards the ingredient quantity)
