Betty Crocker Just Dropped a New Version of a Fan-Favorite Baking Mix

Written by

You might be surprised to learn that Betty Crocker got its start in a very unexpected way. In 1921, The Washburn-Crosby Company (now known as General Mills) placed a newspaper ad that contained a jigsaw puzzle. Readers could mail in the completed puzzle to receive a flour bag-shaped pincushion. The Minnesota-based brand could have never predicted what happened next. Alongside finished puzzles, it also received hundreds of cooking questions.

In an effort to connect with consumers while providing answers to their kitchen conundrums, the Betty Crocker personality was created. Since then, Betty Crocker has launched countless cookbooks, recipes, and products that simplify baking, turning the fictional character into a household name.

Its longtime grocery store offerings include classic cake and brownie mixes, but lucky for us, the lineup is always expanding. Earlier this year, fans were treated to a trio of tea time-inspired desserts, mystery color “Wicked” cupcake mix, and most recently, chocolate cake boxes inspired by the hit Netflix show “Wednesday.”

Now, a cozy new Betty Crocker product is heading to stores, and you’ll want to keep it stocked all autumn long.

Betty Crocker Introduces Soft Baked Pumpkin Spice Cookie Mix

Betty Crocker is expanding its popular Soft Baked Cookie Mix lineup with a new fall flavor. The new Soft Baked Pumpkin Spice Cookie Mix features brown sugar, dried pumpkin, and warm spices. With just one stick of softened butter and two eggs, you can turn this pantry-friendly pouch into a soft cookie dough that can be used for cookies, layered pumpkin cheesecake bars, or even an autumnal dessert pizza.

You can choose to enjoy each baked cookie as-is, or, if you don’t mind extra prep time, you can easily elevate this dough with just a handful of simple ingredients.

After you’ve rolled it into balls and placed on a baking sheet, try adding a spoonful of our five-ingredient cinnamon streusel topping before baking the dough. This will add a sweet, caramelized crunch to each cookie.

Or, once cooled, use a pastry bag to pipe a cream cheese frosting spiral and top with a sprinkle of cinnamon for a Crumbl-style creation. Each pouch costs just under $3 and contains 17 servings, making it a steal compared to similar bakery-style options.

So far, we have spotted Betty Crocker’s Limited Edition Soft Baked Pumpkin Spice Cookie Mix at Walmart, but this mix could soon be available at additional retailers nationwide, so be sure to look for it on your next grocery run.
