The recipe for a perfect night at home calls for just three ingredients: good music, a homemade dessert, and a relaxing activity. For more than a century, we’ve cooked up countless recipes, but this year, we’re bringing something new to the table. So step into our kitchen—we baked up something sweet for all the puzzle enthusiasts out there.
Made in collaboration with Piecework Puzzles, our “Flour Power” puzzle whisks you straight into a baker’s dream world, complete with exquisitely frosted cakes and cupcakes, pretty pastel bouquets, and, of course, the Better Homes & Gardens iconic red plaid cookbooks. The vintage setting taps into the nostalgia of retro kitchens, meant to channel the warm feeling of making a batch of cookies at your grandma’s house. When completed, it’s worthy of framing and hanging in your dining room.

“The puzzle is an homage to Better Homes & Gardens’ iconic red plaid motif, vintage cookbooks, floral accents, and trendy, vintage-inspired cakes. It was definitely the ultimate exercise in creativity and so much fun,” says Stephanie Hunter, design director, who oversaw the creative direction for the puzzle’s imagery. “We wanted the image to be a strong representation of the brand and our storied history while also feeling fresh—and a definite challenge for the puzzle.”
The puzzle is 1,000 pieces, so it’ll keep you (and a few loved ones) busy for at least a couple of afternoons. To make it into its own themed event, grab some flour, sugar, and your favorite whimsical cake recipe—whether it’s been passed down for generations or torn out of one of our cookbooks.
You can even set the mood with our curated playlist, which is a “sugar-spun jukebox of ’50s and ’60s charm” featuring Fleetwood Mac, The Ronettes, Father John Misty, and many more classic jams.
You can buy “Flour Power” at Piecework Puzzles for $40, starting September 9. Pick one up for your next solo date, fun family game night, or as a thoughtful holiday gift. And if you’re wondering what to get your baking-obsessed bestie for their birthday this year—you’re welcome.
