Marian Burros leaves many comfort food recipes and why they’re important

Written by

I don’t know about you, but I feel like someone I have known from music, television or movies passes away every few days. Today, I want to tell you about someone whose name might not be familiar but was a force in the coverage of food.

On Sept. 20, Marian Burros died at 92. She was a force in the food writing world and the author of 13 books. Her career included being the food editor at the Washington Post and serving as the Healthy Eating columnist and even interim restaurant critic for The New York Times. I met her during the book tour for her 13th cookbook, “Cooking for Comfort” in 2003. I was a year into my job as food editor.
