This 5-Ingredient, One-Pan Chicken Is the Easiest Dinner You’ll Make All Week

Written by

If you’re like me, choosing a dinner recipe can feel like the bane of your existence—especially on a weeknight. For those meals after a long day, I have a few criteria: the recipe must be quick and only use a few ingredients. Of course, it has to taste good, too, and it’ll get extra credit if there’s only one pan to clean afterward.

Finding a five-ingredient or fewer recipe isn’t difficult on Allrecipes. In fact, it’s almost trickier to choose which few-ingredient recipe you want to make. But, if you’ve got chicken cutlets in your fridge (or freezer) and just a few additional ingredients and spices on hand, let me introduce you to a true weeknight hero: Garlic Butter Chicken Cutlets.

How To Make Garlic Butter Chicken Cutlets

This new recipe has quickly become an Allrecipes community favorite, with reviewer Dutchess calling it “fantabulous.”

These Garlic Butter Chicken Cutlets are exactly what they sound like: seasonal chicken cutlets seared in a pan and finished in a garlicky, buttery, chicken broth sauce that comes together in less than 30 minutes.

To make what recipe creator Brenda Venable calls a “versatile main dish,” you’ll simply season chicken cutlets with salt, pepper, and dried Italian seasoning. Then, you’ll brown the cutlets in a skillet with a mixture of butter and olive oil. Once lightly browned, you’ll remove the chicken to finish the pan sauce, which is the part of the dish that fans rave about.

“I love the strong garlic flavor,” Dutchess’ 5-star review reads. “Made it today for the first time and 1 million percent will be making this again! Can’t believe I finally found a recipe with my garlic preference.”

The garlic in question is the 1 ½ tablespoons of freshly minced cloves that go into the pan with the browned chicken bits, chicken stock, and remaining fat.

You’ll finish cooking the chicken cutlets in the sauce to incorporate the buttery, garlic flavors. Then, remove the cutlets once again to allow the sauce to reduce and thicken to be served atop each tender piece of chicken.

Allrecipes Allstar France C says the Garlic Butter Chicken Cutlets is “really flavorful and simple to make—perfect for a weekday dinner. Served it with roasted veggies, but this would be amazing over mashed potatoes if you make extra sauce!”

And the recipe is as versatile as the creator intended it, with some reviewers writing that they tried the recipe with chicken breasts and thighs.

Armed with that chicken lurking in the depths of your freezer and this simple, few-ingredient recipe, you’ll have dinner on the table in no time.
