Maine’s Best Breakfast Sandwich Is at Portland’s Tandem Bakery

To call Portland, Maine, a foodie town might actually be an understatement.

The city is a hotbed of delicious meals and creative cuisines from a diverse lineup of eateries. Whatever you have a hankering for, you are likely to find a wonderful version of it in Portland.

Where to Find Maine’s Best Biscuit

That certainly can be said about a good old-fashioned biscuit, because the city has one of the most delicious this side of the Mason-Dixon line, and it can be found at Tandem Bakery.

In fact, this biscuit is so good that The New York Times once wrote a gushing feature on it. And for good reason, they are freaking delicious.

Tandem has been a local and tourist favorite ever since it was opened by Will and Kathleen Pratt in 2012. It’s best known for two things: freshly roasted coffee and, of course, some of the best biscuits in America. The fluffy, sweet clouds of goodness are pure joy. Biting into one for the first time might belong on the Mount Rushmore of lifetime experiences. Yes, they are that good, especially with a little butter and jam, or better yet, as a breakfast sandwich.

That brings me to a recent article from the folks over at the popular food site The Takeout. The article is titled “Where to Find the Best Breakfast Sandwich in Each State,” and, wouldn’t you know it, Tandem Bakery was the choice for Maine.

The only downside to these delicious bad boys is that the word has been out about them for a long time, so a significant queue is typically waiting for you when you get there. However, it’s well worth any wait you may have to endure.
